January Sock Drive

During the entire month of January, the Gates Public Library will be accepting donations of NEW socks. This is your opportunity to give to a good cause and help your neighbors in need.

Socks are one of the most requested and least donated items at homeless shelters. They are essential for keeping feet healthy and preventing blisters, fungal infections, and frostbite, especially for people who walk long distances every day. Because shelters cannot accept used socks, even if they are in good condition, new socks are always in high demand.

In these difficult times and colder months, your sock donation can go a long way to helping those with limited resources in our community. Donations can be dropped off during business hours in the box marked “Sock Drive” in the library’s atrium. All socks collected will benefit local charities serving the Rochester area.
