Friends of the Library
Who We Are
We are an independent, volunteer, not-for-profit organization that was re-founded in 1986 as part of the library's 25th anniversary celebration. Our purpose is to support the many services and programs offered by the library and to promote the library’s presence in the community. We do this through communication, as well as fundraising activities that include, but are not limited to, quarterly book sales and an annual charity golf tournament. The Friends of the Gates Public Library is recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Hours of Operation:

(The 1st Thursdays of each month we open at 11 a.m.)
Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Our quarterly book sales are held in the Gates Public Library atrium on the 2nd weekend of March, June, September, and December. All proceeds benefit the Gates Public Library.
We welcome books, DVDs, CDs, and books on CD and even on cassettes! Games, puzzles, and electronic games, too. Key words are: nearly new or very gently used condition. We can also use additional paperback fiction, teen, and children’s books for the bookstore, and other media for our book sales. Please bring your bag of donations to the circulation desk at the library. Tax receipts are available upon request. We even have a volunteer who will come to your Gates home to pick up your already packed books. Please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Older books are welcome if they are in good condition with their dust jackets. No textbooks, or highlighted or marked up books, please. Email us if you have a question about what we will accept.
Without your quality donations, we could not stock the bookstore or our quarterly book sales with salable items. Sometimes your donations will be added to our library’s shelves if the librarians can use your books to augment the library’s collections. So thank you for thinking about the Friends of Gates Public Library when you wish to downsize your print or non-print materials!

Our Just For Friends Newsletter is published quarterly in relation to our Book Sale Events in March, June, September, and December. It can also be found within the Gates Public Library near our Book Store, as well as on our Facebook Page. Please stay tuned for links to our archived newsletters!
