What do you do at the Gates Public Library? I am a desk aide at the circulation desk. My main job is to basically check out various items to patrons and then return them when needed. I also do other tasks well; sometimes I have helped with designing signs that have been hung up at the library about programs or opportunities that are presented at the library. What book has changed your life and how? "Identical" by Ellen Hopkins, it has shown me that books can be an art form. It doesn't have to be a typical, uniformed, or average structured book, but in a more organic and expressive way. And plus, it is a great book! What book made the biggest impact on you as a child? It wasn't necessarily a specific book but a memory. When I was a child, my grandmother would read to be the essential children's books: Clifford, Bernstein Bears, and Rainbow Fish. It is blissful moments like that I look back on to remind myself that you have to savor the moment. You wake up to find your house is burning down. You only have time to save one object. What is it? Probably my sketchbooks, it has all of my sketches and drawings from over the years. You simply cannot replace that. What is your spirit guide animal? My spirit guide animal would probably some form of cat, wild or domestic. Cats are awesome in every way. All of the titles under "Staff Recommendations" were selected by Sara.
